How does the AI generate my side quest?
The generator calls a serverless Next.js endpoint that securely interfaces with OpenAI's GPT-4o model. It passes your selected mood, location, time limit, and avoidance notes to the model under a strict adventure-coaching framework. The AI evaluates these constraints to output a single, safe, structured task that fits your parameters perfectly.
Are these real-life quests safe to perform?
Yes. The AI is specifically instructed to ignore any suggestions of high-risk, illegal, or physically dangerous tasks. All generated quests prioritize sensory awareness, local exploration, creativity, mild social connections, or spiritual mindfulness. You are always in control—if a quest doesn't fit your level of comfort, simply click "Generate Another".
Where are saved AI quests stored?
When you click "Add to my Quest Board," the generated quest is converted into a standard quest structure (including an ID and XP yield) and appended to a `sq_custom_quests` array in your browser's local storage (`localStorage`). The main Quest Board tool reads this array and dynamically merges it with the 100 default quests, meaning your custom challenges show up on your dashboard automatically.
